As we grow in relationship to each other, and experience the joy and support of those relationships, how can we but praise our Creator?
As we witness the precious gift of Grace we have received in Jesus Christ, how can we keep from celebrating?
Worship is the cornerstone of our week. Every Sunday at 9:45 in the Sanctuary, we begin by praising the Lord for who God is and has done. Then we study God’s Word together, and offer our lives in thanksgiving. Through it all, our worship is a lively blend of traditional and contemporary elements, resulting in talented, dynamic and Spirit-grounded worship.
Communion (or Eucharist) is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month. Anyone who seeks Jesus is welcome at His Table. Along with the bread, we use grape juice instead of wine, and children of any age are invited to receive. (See FAQ.)
Children are always welcome to join us for worship, and begin worship with us until the Children’s Sermon each week (except Communion Sundays). After the Children’s Sermon, the children Grades 6 and under go to Sunday School. During Communion Sundays, the children begin the day in the classroom, and will rejoin their parents just before Communion is received.
Youth and adults attend worship side by side, and are strongly encouraged to take a leadership role such as ushering, reading prayers or Scriptures, singing in the choir, or even by becoming a lay servant and preaching the sermon.
Our Prayer Team meets once a week to pray for us, our ministries, and our community.
Every Wednesday morning at 10am, they gather in the Sanctuary to review the confidential prayer cards collected during the prior Sunday’s worship, to pray for the church’s prayer list, and to ask for favor and guidance for the church’s work in transforming the world.
Submit a prayer request to the Prayer Team.
Our children truly lead the way in praising God, under the talented direction of Yan Yu.
The Children’s Choir typically sings once a month.
Children grades 1st through 6th are eligible to join our Children’s Choir, which rehearses from 11am – 11:30am each Sunday.
With Yan Yu directing, such talented singers offering their gifts and the Holy Spirit’s guidance each week, our Chancel Choir truly makes “a joyful noise to the Lord!” (Psalm 66:1) Every Sunday, an offering of music is given, and the choir leads the musical parts of our worship. The choir sings in four-part (SATB) or three-part (SAB) harmony, normally with piano accompaniment.
If you have a heart for singing to the Lord, you’ll find the fabulous combination of laughter, comraderie and skill knit together in our choir! The choir rehearses every Sunday from 11:30am -12:30pm, and warms up before worship around 8:45am. Contact any choir member for more information about joining.
Our church offers beginning drum classes for djembe and dun-uns every 2nd and 4th Thursdays from 7pm – 9pm.
These beautiful West African instruments are used to create complex rhythms in much the same way as many voices are blended together to form chords. Each rhythm has a significant use in its traditional culture. Drumming in this style is intuitive, and every drum has its own unique story and sound.
Our drumming instructor, Marty Regan, runs a number of classes and “drum circles” here on Long Island, and has traveled to drum conferences as far away as West Africa itself.
Contact Marty Regan (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you will need to borrow a drum for the evening.
