Bayport UMC places an emphasis on its ministry to children. Jesus afforded the children a special place. He welcomed and blessed them. He understood children to be partners in learning and serving, realizing the potential that children have for contributing to the well-being of the wider community. Our mission is to implement a strong educational program that encourages our children to follow the example of Jesus, to accept and welcome others and to teach and share the Good news with all.
The BUMC Sunday School welcomes children who are 3 by Sept 30 of the school year through 6th grade. Our Sunday School is from 9:45-11 on Sunday mornings. It is staffed by many long-time volunteers who are creative, passionate about what they are doing and are devoted to the children. Learning opportunities are enhanced by music, crafts and play acting. Our curriculum is planned to prepare the children well for Confirmation and to develop each child’s relationship with Jesus Christ. We also have the advantage of classrooms and a Parish Hall for big events such as our Christmas Pageant and family Pot Luck suppers.
Middle school and high school students are invited to classes on the 2nd and 3rd Sunday mornings of each month from 9:45-11:00. On 1st and 4th Sundays, middle school and high school students join us for worship.

For youth in 7th- and 8th-grade and those who have not yet been confirmed, we have a 2-year Confirmation class that meets on Wednesday nights. Youth from 7th through 12th grades are increasingly involved in leading worship.
